WHAT IS TELEMEDICINE

Telemedicine is a digital evolution of traditional medicine that allows you to maintain communication between doctor and patient, even at a distance.

It was born from the need of patients who would like a more technological, efficient and up-to-the-day health care. In addition, it simplifies communication between doctor and patient, integrates with the uneven distribution of the health offer in the territory, reaches a very large number of people, helps the patient in the search for the most suitable specialist, simplifies the reception of diagnostic tests, eliminates long waiting lines and speeds up bureaucratic procedures.

The pandemic was a real challenge for territorial medicine, but it had positive implications: especially in the initial phase of the pandemic there was a need to reduce inappropriate entry to the hospital and the Emergency Room. The optics were to keep positive patients safe and protect negative patients from contagion, especially those who already had a chronic condition and fragility that would worsen their outcome in case of infection. At the same time, it was necessary to lighten the burden on the emergency structures that were absorbed by the pandemic.

Of course telemedicine does not replace traditional medicine, but it is a necessary integration that aims to improve health care and help patients get the best possible care. Telemedicine is, in fact, one of the key components for improving the health of citizens.
